WORK from more than 300 artists will be on display across the county from today (September 19).

Somerset Open Studios 2021 has art works members in more than 200 studios and spaces taking part.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists, find out what inspires them and experience their working process.

There will be a fold-out map in cultural venues to help visitors to plan their journeys, as well as an Open Studios app which provides full venue details including art forms, accessibility information and opening times.

A map with venue listings will be available in the September/October edition of the Evolver magazine, and the venue details will be on the Visit Somerset website.

“Every weekend is family friendly with a range of activities suitable for families of all shapes and sizes,” said a spokesperson for Somerset Open Studios.

“Work by artists taking part in the recent Somerset Reacquainted project will show in ‘Community’ at Taunton Brewhouse and there is also a special exhibition, Thread Bearing Witness, with work by Alice Kettle at Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury.

“New headline sponsors Acorn will be presenting two special virtual tours by artists Sally Muir and Angela Charles filmed at their showhome properties at The Old Print Works in Frome and Cubis Bruton.

“After a difficult few months, artists will be pleased to welcome you and show you what they’ve been working on and will value your support as we all venture out to experience the wonderful variety of art and creativity across the county this autumn.”
