A TAUNTON man will be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court for stalking 'involving serious alarm or distress'.

Between March 12 and April 9, Joseph James Palmer, of Northfields, Bishop's Hull, is alleged to have repeatedly contacted a woman both as himself and using fake profiles in Somerset and Leeds.

Leeds Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday afternoon (September 20) that Palmer, 32, turned up uninvited and loitered at her address and another address, followed her activities, and sent repeated communications to her.

The court heard that his conduct amounted to stalking and caused the woman serious alarm or distress which had an adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities.

There was an indicated plea of guilt from Mr Palmer.

His case has been committed to Leeds Crown Court for sentencing on October 18, 2021, or such other date, time or place as the court directs.

Mr Palmer has been granted bail subject to the condition that he does not attempt to contact two women.
