A YOUNG man has died in a single-vehicle crash in West Somerset.

Police are investigating the fatal collision in which the 27-year passenger died at the scene.

The driver, aged 31, is in hospital with a serious head injury.

The BMW 430 the two men were travelling hit a tree on the B3224 at Exford at about 8.45pm on Sunday (October 3).

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "The passenger, a 27-year-old man, sadly died at the scene from his injuries.

"The driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital.

"The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene, and re-opened at just after 4.30am on Monday."
