TAUNTON is getting a new post office later this month.
The Post Office is introducing a new service in the WH Smith store, at 47-50 Fore Street.
Customers will be able to use Fore Street Post Office, as it will be known, from 8.30am on Tuesday, October 26.
The service will be a 'local style branch', with a low-screened, open-plan post office service point integrated into the retail counter.
A Post Office spokesperson said: "Customers will be able to carry out a wide range of post office transactions alongside retail purchases.
"The new service will offer long opening hours, with the post office opening hours in line with the retail business."
The opening hours will be Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday 10.30am to 4.30pm.
Services available will include mail; withdrawals
A planning application to install a Post Office sign on the outside of the store has been lodged with Somerset West and Taunton Council.
