TWO people trapped in vehicles following a crash this morning (Tuesday) have been taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called after a van and a car collided in Combe Florey shortly after 9am.

Fire crews from Taunton and Wiveliscombe were sent to the incident. A heavy rescue unit also attended.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On arrival crews confirmed this was a collision involving one van and one car and that there were two people trapped, one in each vehicle.

"One casualty was released under the guidance of the paramedics on scene and crews removed the roof from the other vehicle to rescue the second casualty."

Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to free the second casualty.
