Pictures: Launch day at The Bridge in Taunton

Many people arrived for the launch of The Bridge, with some having to queue down the road.

Residents bought ideas, games, plants and more to celebrate the opening.

Guests enjoyed tastings, and listened to live music from local musicians.

Manager of the cafe, Ian Howlett, said: "We loved seeing so many people coming to support this new venture and look forward to seeing the community using this space over the coming months.

"I believe there's more to life than just what we eat and drink and we need each other and God to help us build bridges in our community.

"That's why I moved to Taunton, I believe this will be a real bridge across communities in the county town."

The Bridge will be open from Monday until Saturday, from 8.30am until 5.30pm. Events will take place during both opening hours and in the evenings, including live music, clubs and other community events.

There will be an events board at The Bridge which will be regularly updated.

Regular visits can become a 'bridge builder' by signing up in store, and you will receive 10 per cent of orders.
