IT may not be the real Taunton Carnival, but it's the next best thing.

Taunton Carnival Day is being celebrated on Saturday (October 16).

The fun includes a parade of vintage cars led by Miss Taunton, Sabrina King, the Carnival Queen, and Princess Jemima Gee, from Priory Bridge Road to High Street at 9.45am.

The cars will be joined by Harley Davidson motorcycles and will all be on display throughout the day.

Sound and colour will come from street musicians sponsored by Mecca Bingo and the Bootstrap Boarder Morris Dancers, who will entertain with several shows.

For Guess the Weight of The Mayor, Cllr Sue Lees will be in High Street between 11am and 12.30pm and has generously donated a prize for the person most guesses closest.

There are prizes on offer from the Tombola and other competitions.

Although there is no evening procession due to the pandemic, several carnival clubs are showing costumes from years past.
