SHOPPERS at Morrisons in Taunton could soon be able to SELL their car at the supermarket.

The company is seeking planning permission to install a WeBuyAnyCar pod in the car park of the store off Priory Bridge Road.

The pod would consist of a single storey prefabricated building taking up two car parking bays.

The site would feature up to 10 second hand cars bought from members of the public.

They would be taken off site by a vehicle transporter within 72 hours.

A statement submitted to Somerset West and Taunton Council's planning committee says: "Webuyanycar.com have very little impact on a site as they make use of spaces out of the way from where Morrisons customers normally park.

"The sites are controlled by their national systems, to which all their transport teams have access to and can prioritise collections accordingly.

"Morrisons would also add that Webuyanycar.com offer a service which is highly valued by Morrisons customers and firmly aligns with their plan to bring more and more popular and useful services to the communities that they serve. There is no disruption to their normal operation."

The statement adds: "The scheme seeks to revitalise the existing WM Morrisons car park by offering more choice to customers and generating new employment opportunities through the provision of a WeBuyAnyCar pod."
