YOUNG people can now walk into vaccination clinics to get their Covid-19 jab.

This week, there are three clinics in Somerset where 12-15 year olds can get their vaccines.

These include:

  • Firepool, Taunton from 3pm until 6pm, until Friday, November 5
  • Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford, Somerset from 3pm until 5pm, until Friday, November 5
  • Minehead Community Hospital from 3pm until 7pm on November 2 and 10am until 6pm on November 6 (drop-in only – no bookable appointments)

Caroline Upton, head of nursing and quality for the Somerset Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “Teams of vaccinators, administrators and volunteers are working very hard to make it as easy as possible for local people to get their jabs.

"As part of that we are now holding walk-in clinics where 12-15 year olds can get their vaccinations.”

The news comes after it was announced last week that 12-15 year olds in Somerset could now have their vaccinations.

Previously, those in the 12-15 year old age group were being vaccinated in schools or could book a jab at a number of vaccination centres across the county.

Now, the children can have their jabs at walk-in clinics.

Gary Risdale, from the Somerset Vaccination Programme, added: “There are now a number of different ways that 12-15 year olds can get their Covid-19 vaccination.

“We have a significant number of slots for 12-15 year olds at our vaccination centres - including at Somerset Motor Museum in Sparkford and Firepool in Taunton - which parents or guardians can book via the National Booking System or by ringing 119. We are also offering drop-in clinics at Minehead Community Hospital.

“Alternatively 12-15 year olds can come to a walk-in clinic for this age group which are being held at some of our vaccination clinics. You can find out which centres are offering walk-in clinics for this age group on the “grab-a-jab” website.

“Children will also continue to be offered the Covid-19 jab through their schools”.
