A NEW pop-up shop has launched in Taunton in time for Christmas.
Tica Lily, a business in Somerton, is currently displaying products at La Belle Boudoir, in Riverside Place, until December 21.
The eco-friendly company uses flax linen to create strong and durable products, such as robes, aprons, tableware and a collection of tea towels.
“It’s great to be able to showcase our products at our first ever pop-up shop," said Tica Lily director, Carole Champion.
"We know that with all the uncertainty surrounding supply chains that Christmas shoppers are starting earlier this year.
"We can’t wait to provide them with our Somerset-made, handcrafted, sustainable products to help get them ready for the festive season whether they are looking for gifts or homewares to ensure their Christmas day table looks wonderful.
“We’ll be staffing the shop throughout November and December and look forward to meeting lots of Taunton residents seeking eco-friendly interior products, including stylish aprons, robes and tableware, that are produced by our small team of talented seamstresses in Somerton.
“Shopping locally has never been more important and where other larger stores might be struggling to get stock, ours has been made just down the road, so takes very few miles to get to the shop and is not subject to delays due to logistics or Covid, or any of the issues related with it coming from China or India.
"It’s also vital, with the current economic situation, to support small independent, British firms.”
The pop-up shop will be open between 10am and 4pm, from Saturday until Tuesday.
Carmela Ricciardi-Powers, owner of La Belle Boudoir, added: “It’s very exciting to have another small business joining us to showcase their products this festive season.
“We’ve enjoyed working with Tica Lily while setting up this pop-up shop, their products are beautiful and our customers are definitely falling in love with the look and feel of their luxury linen and are impressed that these products are British made and sustainable.”
Tica Lily's aim is to create strong and durable products that get better with use and help to tackle the issue of fast fashion and excessive waste due to the short lifespan of synthetic products on the market.
The company also offers a mail order collection too.
