POLICE carrying out spot checks on a Taunton road have seized two vehicles today (Thursday, November 18).
Neither vehicle was taxed - one of them had been untaxed for almost three years since December 2018 and it had been without an MOT test certificate since March this year.
The officers carried out the hour-long operation in Hamilton Road as part of Road Safety Week.
Members of the Taunton Neighbourhood Policing Team were supported by officers from Avon and Somerset Police's road policing unit.
A spokesperson for the neighbourhood team said: "In the hour that we operated we pulled over multiple vehicles with the following outcomes:
- two drivers issued with tickets for speeds of 40mph in a 30mph;
- multiple drivers given words of advice to immediately rectify their vehicle defects such as defective headlights etc;
- two vehicles seized for both having no tax. One of the vehicles has had no MOT since March 2021 and no tax since December 2018."
