POACHERS were disrupted during a police operation in Somerset.
Members of the Mendip Neighbourhood Policing Team joined forces with the Rural Affairs Unit and Traffic officers from Avon and Somerset Police to target hare coursing and poaching in the Wells area.
The operation, which took place over several days, saw high-visibility patrols in the area, with leaflets handed out and signs put up.
A police spokesperson also confirmed a number of incidents during the operation, including the disruption of poachers.
"As a result of the operation taking place, one missing person was located and returned home; one young puppy located in the early hours of the morning and a welfare check carried out," they said.
"Two poachers (were) disrupted and after a short pursuit, one driver reported for no insurance, tax or MOT."
Patrols are set to continue to reassure rural communities.
