TAUNTON are racing again on Thursday afternoon when the first of the six races on the card is due to post at 12.55pm.

A total of 46 horses have been declared and with top trainers Philip Hobbs, Paul Nicholls; Colin Tizzard , Alan King and Nicky Henderson all having runners and leading jockeys Sam Twiston- Davies, Harry Cobden, Gavin Sheehan and Nico de Boinville all booked for rides, another good afternoon’s action looks to be assured.

The most valuable race on the card is The Short Run Press Celebrating 40 Years Handicap Hurdle, a Class 3 event run over two miles three and due off at 2.25, which is worth more than £6k to the winner.

The Nicholls trained Dargiannini ridden by Sheehan and Guernesey from the Hobbs yard under three pound claimer Sean Houlihan look to be the pick of the runners.

It may be worth checking out Nicky Henderson’s horse in the first Brilliant Present, his only runner of the day and Gary Moore’s only runner Eragon De Chanay which goes in the 1.55pm, where Catch the Cuban will go off as favourite.

In the final race of the day brothers Kieran and Tom Buckley, who are both well known locally, will be competing against each other riding Kendelu and Nachi Fall respectively, both trained by Nigel Hawke who enjoyed a winner here last time round.

Punters are reminded that a courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the first race and returns half an hour after the start of the last.
