WORK is scheduled to start early next year on a 250-home development in West Somerset.

Taunton-based firm Summerfield Homes is building the properties at Liddymore Farm, Watchet.

Potential buyers will be able to express an interest when the company opens its marketing suite on the site late in 2022.

Ed Khodabandehloo, director at Summerfield, said the acquisition of the plot represents the largest purchase the regional housebuilding business has made.

And he said it shows the company's commitment to carry on investing long term in housing in the Somerset West and Taunton district.

Mr Khodabandehloo added: "We are delighted to be back investing and building in Watchet, a town that is becoming increasingly popular.

"We’re already gathering interest and very much look forward to welcoming purchasers to the sites marketing suite which we anticipate will be open in autumn 2022."

The Liddymore Farm development will feature a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom homes.

Summerfield will also construct a new car park and gates for the benefit of Knights Templar Community Church School and Nursery as part of a planning agreement.
