A TREE with a Royal connection was brought down by Storm Arwen at the weekend.
The 79-year-old oak in Trull Meadow was uprooted by a severe gust of wind.
Don Archer, of Trull Parish Archive Group, said it was planted by members of Trull and Staplehay Women's Institute on November 11, 1952, in memory of King George VI, who had died in February that year.
Mr Archer added: "It had been donated by a Miss Bridges of Bath, who formerly lived in Wild Oak Lane, Trull.
"She had grown it from a sprouting acorn from the veteran oak in the meadow some 16 years before."
Trull Meadow was recently bought from Queen's College by a trust, funded by local people, to prevent any risk of it being used for housing development.
