A HOUSEHOLDER living in a Taunton cul de sac says her recycling has not been collected on the scheduled day for the past five weeks.

Sabina Ahmed claims she and her next door neighbours have left their bins and blue bags on their driveways every Tuesday in November.

But they have had to call Somerset West Partnership each time to send a vehicle to their Galmington homes to collect it later in the week.

Mrs Ahmed, who posted a number of complaints about the service on social media, said recycling items have been collected from the other homes in her street on the correct day.

"I've contacted Somerset Waste Partnership to complain and they said someone would call or e-mail me, but that hasn't happened and the problem has continued," said Mrs Ahmed.

"Each time I have to ring up and they send someone out to collect it. But I shouldn't have to contact them every week.

"There's food waste and it all looks really unsightly left out.

"I'm worried people will think I haven't paid my council tax.

"I want a reason as to why they haven't collected it. They've always collected it from our drive before.

"If we put the items further out at the end of our driveways, it blocks entry to our drive and our neighbours can't reverse out.

Mrs Ahmed's district councillor John Hunt took up her case with Somerset Waste Partnership.

Cllr Hunt said: "She pays her council tax and has a right to have her recycling collected.

"I've been in contact with Somerset Waste Partnership and they have been out there and said they would collect the recycling. They should do it."

A spokesman for Somerset Waste Partnership has apologised to Mrs Ahmed.

He said: "We are sorry for the problems she has faced, and wrote to her last week to express our apologies after ensuring that her recycling and rubbish was collected.

"So our crews can regularly collect household waste, it is important that customers put their containers out at the kerbside.

"We would always ask residents to raise issues directly with us, either through the My Waste Services feature on the SWP website or by calling their district customer services."
