POLICE mounted an operation in Taunton's Priorswood Road in the force's annual festive clampdown on drink and drug drivers.
Officers pulled over several vehicles as part of Operation Tonic, which runs throughout December.
Fortunately, none of the drivers tested positive during the hour-long initiative yesterday morning (Friday, December 3).
But they did discover one vehicle without a current MOT and another with an illegal tyre.
A spokesperson for Taunton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Officers from the Neighbourhood Team assisted our Roads Policing Unit on Priorswood Road conducting random vehicle checks as part of Operation Tonic.
"The purpose of Op Tonic is to highlight the dangers of getting behind the wheel over the limit.
"In the hour the officers were there, they pulled over several vehicles.
"Fortunately no drink drivers but the officers did find the following: 1 vehicle with an expired MOT and 1 vehicle with its rear tyre under the legal limit. This could result in a £100 fine and 3 points on their licence for the driver."
