A CHOCOLATE shop opened near Taunton last week.

The Somerset Chocolate Co, owned by Kellie Mewett, opened its doors at Coates English Willow Visitor Centre at Stoke St Gregory, on Saturday (December 4).

Kellie also hosted a pre-launch event on Wednesday, December 1.

From her farmhouse in Stoke St Gregory, Kellie started her Chokoleti range in 2018. She developed the range, based on her Kenyan family routes, using African inspired recipes.

Lindt opposed the trade marking of Chokoleti and so Kellie decided to re-brand to Somerset Chocolate Co.

Her new shop was opened by Mayor of Taunton, Cllr Sue Lees.

“The team and I were honoured to welcome the Mayor and give her a tour of the premises which as well as a shop, will from the new year house our chocolate production workshop and office," said Kellie.

"There will be lots for visitors to see and experience."

Cllr Lees cut the ribbon to officially open the store at the weekend.

She added: “I am delighted to be here today to help celebrate the expansion of this wonderful Somerset business and I wish Kellie and her team much success in their new premises. The chocolates are delicious and I’m sure the shop will be very popular.”
