A RETIRED mechanic has been presented with a gift to celebrate his 63-year long service at a garage.

Graham Moore, 78, has worked at Mount Street Garage in Bishop’s Lydeard for 63 years and current owner Tony Evens, gave him a sundial to mark the milestone.

Mr Moore has retired in September and today, Monday, December 20, and Mr Evens surprised him with the present to celebrate such achievement.

Mr Evens said it was remarkable for someone ‘to stay in the job for 63 years.’ Mr Moore said: “I have been a mechanic all my life. I have always enjoyed working there, I have never really wanted to change very much.

“I have known Tony since he was a boy, he was my apprentice. He always told me he wanted to get me something but he didn’t know what and then he came up with this and it was lovely.”
