A MAN arrested in connection with a fire at Taunton town centre clothing shop has been released under investigation.

FatFace clothing shop will close on its “busiest days of the year” after a fire took place on Castle Bow on, Wednesday, December 22.

The incident took place at around 10.30pm and both police and fire services were called to the scene of the “smoked filled” shop.

Suzie Parsons, FatFace manager, said: “I was called out at 10.30pm. Rubbish and cardboards were set alight damaging the side of the shop.

“The shop was smoke-filled, there are smoke damages. We are not sure yet about stock damages.”

Mrs Parsons also said the shop will be closed over Christmas and a sign at the entrance read it will open again on December 27.

She added: “These are my two busiest days of the year, it will have a massive impact on my sales.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “The man who was arrested has been released under investigation. Enquiries continue.”
