TAUNTON racegoers have got another exciting afternoon of National Hunt action to look forward to when the Orchard Portman course hosts a seven race card with the first action due to post at 1pm

The very generous prize fund of £61,500 on offer has seen 77 horses declared with leading trainers Nicky Henderson, Vanessa Williams, Philip Hobbs, David Pipe Paul Nicholls and Colin Tizzard all having runners while leading jockeys Sam Twiston-Davies, Tom Scudamore, Hary Cobden and Harry Skelton are all booked for rides.

The most valuable race on the card is The Simon Stacey Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeple chase, at 2,30pm, a Class 3 event has a prize fund of £15,200 up for grabs.

The Stables Business Park Handicap Hurdle Race the second Class 3 event on the card hall an hour later has eight runners so will pay three places which makes it a much more interesting proposition for the punter.

For those looking for better value ,it is worth looking at Cap Du Mathan from the Nicholls yard and an each way punt on Canford Light the mount of Adam Wedge.
