MEET the five generations of a Somerset family.

The latest addition to the family is Hartley Whitehouse born at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, on Boxing Day.

Hartley's mum is Clarice Kercher, 19, who lives in East Huntspill with her partner.

Clarice's mum is Kelly Stamford, 40, who has worked as a community carer and lives in North Petherton.

Her mum, Teresa Bilby, 59, from Taunton, used to work for 25 years at Bumbles cafe in the county town.

Also living in Taunton is her mum, Rose England, 79 - little Hartley's great, great grandmother - who worked for many years in the now closed Henry's bar in the town's High Street.

Kelly said: "It's nice having five generations. It's quite unusual - you often hear of four generations, but rarely five.

"We had five generations in the family before when my youngest was born, so it's nice that my daughter's experiencing the same.

"It would be amazing if we had a sixth generation."

Kelly puts the history of longevity down to determined and independent lifestyles.

"My nan (Rose) just doesn't stop, never gives up - even though she's had a stroke," said Kelly.

"She's got her own caravan in West Somerset, where she spends most of her time when it's open. She's so independent.

"My great nan (nanny Carter) was like that. My nan and my mum have followed in her footsteps."
