MIND in Somerset is holding Time to Talk Day (TTTD) in Bridgwater to encourage people to talk more openly about mental health and to break the stigma of suffering from related problems.
With the event taking place on Thursday, February 3, at the town hall from 10am to 3pm, Mind in Somerset is also looking to change attitudes and behaviours towards those with mental health issues.
At the Time to Talk Day, there will be up to 16 stalls including Bridgwater’s Rusty Road 2 Recovery charity, the town’s football club, and Mind in Somerset.
Since the very first TTTD in 2014, the nationwide event has attracted support from celebrities like Freddie Flintoff, Stephen Fry, Frankie Bridge, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It is also supported by the NHS.
Brooke Dobson, the Time to Talk co-ordinator at Mind in Somerset, said: “We want to end the stigma and discrimination around mental health.
“Come to Bridgwater Town Hall on February 3 where you can talk openly to our experts about any issues relating to mental health.
“Although the event is being held there, it’s important to remember that Mind in Somerset serves the whole community across the county.”
For anyone unable to get to Bridgwater on the day, the event will be held on February 8 at 6:30pm via zoom, the link will be available on social media channels & mindinsomerset.org.uk This project is supported by Public Health Somerset County Council.
