POLICE have taken court action against a Taunton youth involved in "ongoing anti-social behaviour and criminal activity".

Taunton Youth Court granted an interim civil injunction against the youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He is barred from entering Baldwin Road and from being in the company of four named boys.

He has also been told he cannot ride an e-ped or electric scooter in public.

The order means the youth can be arrested if they breach the injunction, which is in place to stop them committing anti-social behaviour and being involved in committing crimes.

A spokesperson for Taunton Neighbourhood Policing team said: "This is a purely civil order and does not give the individual a criminal record.

"This has been led by our Neighbourhood Policing Team and Avon and Somerset’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

"The order has been issued to a youth due to their involvement in ongoing anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

"We have been working closely with residents, Neighbourhood Watch and Community Partners and engaging with those affected in the community.

"Our communities have raised concerns about the impact anti-social behaviour is having on our wider residential and business communities.

"Through the gathering of community intelligence, CCTV, social media and working closely with our partner agencies this has given us the opportunity to introduce an interim civil injunction through the court process which has been granted until a full hearing."

Neighbourhood Sgt Kat Forrest has said “Your Neighbourhood Team would like to take this opportunity to thank you as members of our community for coming together and supporting us to reduce anti-social behaviour.

"We will continue to work together to reduce the impact anti-social behaviour and criminal activity has on you.”
