A MAN from Weston-super-Mare has been placed under curfew with electronic monitoring for five months after being found guilty of going equipped for theft.

Rafal Maksymilian Iwanczak, of Thirlmere Road, committed the offence by carrying a crowbar, a hammer, a screwdriver, pliers, and a torch in Weston-super-Mare on February 17, 2021.

Court documents say Iwanczak, 41, was carrying the items “for use in the course of, or in connection with, theft”.

He was found guilty at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on February 3.

His five-month curfew began on February 4 and will end on July 3.

Under the requirements of his curfew, he must remain at home between the hours of 7am and 4pm.

His sentence also covers two other offences he pleaded guilty to on December 13, 2021.

On February 18, 2021, he was caught in possession of 0.428 grams of cannabis in Weston-super-Mare and, on December 20, 2020, he found and stole an Amazon package of unknown value in the town.

He was ordered to pay £47 in compensation, a £95 surcharge, and costs of £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service for the Amazon parcel theft.

Iwanczak was also re-sentenced to a drink-driving offence under this community order, with a previous community order made in February 2020 being revoked.
