FIVE drivers from the Taunton and Wellington area have been fined and handed penalty points by Bath Magistrates’ Court for speeding offences they committed in Somerset.

Two of the drivers were proved guilty under the single justice procedure, and three of them pleaded guilty under the single justice procedure.

The single justice procedure removes the need for the prosecutor and the defendant to attend court for a hearing and allows defendants to manage their cases in writing.

The fines received by the five drivers ranged from £120 to £440 and the number of penalty points they were handed ranged between three and six.

They were sentenced between Monday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 23.
