DUNKERY Beacon Country House Hotel on Exmoor has been presented with Bronze in the Small Hotel of the Year category in the recent South West Tourism Excellence Awards.

John and Jane Bradley, co-partners at the hotel, said: “We’re over the moon about winning this latest accolade and flying the flag for Exmoor and West Somerset.

“It is a great testament to the hard work and dedication that we and our small team have put in over the last 12 months." "The tourism industry has shown amazing resilience and resourcefulness in the way it has survived the challenges thrown up by the pandemic.

“Now, with restrictions lifted, we hope that the 2022 season will be a successful one for all tourism businesses in the South West.”

The awards ceremony took place last Thursday in Exeter with over 300 guests in attendance and was the first time in over two years that the awards have been able to return to their face-to-face format.

Following the ceremony, Robin Barker, director of services for tourism Ltd, who manages the Awards commented: “What a night. Congratulations to everyone who has continued to excel and innovate despite the countless hurdles.”

Now in their 11th year of running the hotel, the couple is very much hands-on owners, with John, a trained chef, producing the food in their award-winning restaurant and Jane front of house.

“We pride ourselves on providing the very best when it comes to ingredients, accommodation, and service.

"We offer the ideal place for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life and truly unwind in a beautiful, unspoilt part of the world.”
