A MAN in his 20s remains in hospital after a "serious assault" in Minehead left him with stab wounds in his back last night (Sunday, April 10).
Police officers and paramedics were called to The Avenue at around 10:45pm following the incident.
The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police and paramedics were called to The Avenue at about 10.45pm following a man sustaining stab wounds to his back.
"The victim, who is in his 20s, remains in hospital at this time.
"It is believed he was attacked by two males wearing dark clothing and hooded tops.
"Our enquiries are at an early stage, but we currently believe this to be an isolated incident.
"As a precaution though, the public can expect to see a greater high-visibility police presence on the streets of Minehead in the coming days to provide reassurance."

The victim remains in hospital at this time.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the assault, or has CCTV footage showing the nearby area, to contact them by calling 101 and giving the call handler the reference number 5222085198.
