SOMERSET welcome Essex to the Cooper Associates County Ground for this LV= Insurance County Championship Division One match.

Jack Leach and Craig Overton return to the squad after resting last week after their time with England.

Matt Renshaw is also set to make his second debut for the club as he is named in the squad.

Fans will be hoping for a repeat of his first debut, in which he scored a century.

The 13-man Somerset squad for this match is: Tom Abell (c), Kasey Aldridge, Jack Brooks, Steve Davies, Lewis Goldsworthy, Ben Green, Lewis Gregory, James Hildreth, Tom Lammonby, Jack Leach, Craig Overton, Matt Renshaw and Peter Siddle.

Ahead of the match, Somerset Head Coach, Jason Kerr said: “It was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing few days at Hampshire.

"The 48 hours leading up to the game were unprecedented with regards to challenges and adversity, but we didn’t acquit ourselves particularly well.

“This week we need to show some real character and fight over the four days against Essex. The guys are very aware that they didn’t perform against Hampshire.

"They have taken responsibility, taken a look at themselves and looked into how they can improve ahead of the next game.

"Collectively it’s really important that we continue to invest in how we’ve practiced, because change takes time. You don’t get rewards straight away."

Play is due to begin at 11am tomorrow (Thursday April 14th).
