A TAUNTON theatre group is returning with a series of Blackadder 2 shows after Covid put on hold its plans.

Established in 2011, At2K has produced numerous tours and award-winning shows over the years including Allo’ Allo’, Abigails Party, the Titfield Thunderbolt, Blithe Spirt, and the Vicar of Dibley.

The community theatre group will be at the village halls in Crowcombe on April 21, Kingston St Mary on April April, and Cannington on April 23 with Blackadder 2.

A spokesperson said: “We are a small community theatre group (a registered charity) bringing entertaining, engaging, innovative theatre to communities across West Somerset and Taunton.

“Sadly, our shows and plans had to be put on hold in 2019 due to the Covid outbreak so we were thrilled when in 2021 the government announced the easing of restrictions, and plans were formulated to stage a tour of Blackadder 2.

The community theatre is returning after Covid stopped its plans

“We began with a play reading then into auditions and found the perfect casting, we set about organising rehearsals which due to social distancing and mixing numbers had its challenges.

“But despite this, we all had a great time preparing ready for showtime. Unfortunately, a week before curtains were up 90 per cent of the cast and crew fell ill with covid.

“This throws the whole production into doubt. With regret we took the decision to cancel all the village hall bookings which meant audiences in Crowcombe, Hatch Beauchamp, Kingston St Mary, and Cannington missed the Baldricks and Sir Flashhearts shows, but thankfully everyone was back and well to perform the last leg of the tour with three performances at the Tacchi Morris which were incredibly well-received.

“We are now delighted to announce the rebooking of three village halls at Crowcombe, Kingston St Mary, and Cannington, unfortunately, we were not able to return to a frequent venue of Hatch Beauchamp, due to availability.

“We are very much looking forward to taking the show out to the community and hearing audiences laughing and enjoying an evening out.”

Tickets are available to book at www.ticketsource.co.uk/At2k-theatre or at the door at a cost of £12.
