A PLOT of equestrian land could be turned into a holiday destination.

A planning application has been submitted to site three timber round house glamping pods in North Curry.

The section of the 3.59-acre field at Oxen Barton, in Oxen Lane, would also include an amenity space, parking and three electric vehicle charging points.

The pods would be sited on timber pads if Somerset West and Taunton Council approves the proposals.

Each unit would comprise an open plan living and eating area with a double bed, its own toilet and shower and a suitably sized new package treatment plant will be installed as part of the works.

There would also be a short length of service track which will be constructed of self-binding gravel.

There would be sufficient space for parking and turning to ensure all vehicles exit on to the highway in forward gear.

A statement accompanying the application on behalf of the applicant, a Mrs K. Baker, says: "It is considered there will be significant potential for associated spending by staying guests in other businesses in the locality.

"Furthermore, the new business activity will generate its own demand for support services."
