THE testimonial match held by Taunton Town FC for Lloyd and Owen Irish is less than a week away.

We caught up with Lloyd Irish to hear what it means to him to be honoured by Taunton Town.

He said: "This club means so much to me and I know that is the same for my brother.

"To be given the honour of a testimonial match is truly incredible, for me it highlights how good this club is and it means a lot to me.

"I cannot wait to get out on the pitch in front of the fans once more, and to be able to use this match as a way to give back to local charities makes it even better."

The match will be staged at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Friday May 6, kicking off at 7.30pm and will be between a Lloyd Irish XI and an Owen Irish XI with both teams including a number of well-known local sporting celebrities.

Some of those include Somerset cricketers Jack Leach as a coach and Max Waller.

A number of former Taunton Town players will also be making an appearance.

Lloyd said: "To enjoy the occasion with my brother and a number of our old teammates will make it a special night.

"I am really looking forward to it, and I am looking forward to seeing the fans once more.

"Throughout my career at Taunton the fans were always amazing, we have a special group of supporters here."

Donations from the proceeds of the game will be made to the Josh Evans Trust Fund, Cooper Associates Foundation, and North Petherton Cricket Club.

Admission to the game being via a minimum donation of £5 which can either be paid on the gate or via a Crowdfunder.

The club has said: "The testimonial is a richly deserved reward for the pair following such long service to the club and we hope as many Peacock fans plus all local football supporters will attend what will be a very enjoyable evening."
