If you’re hoping to catch some Morris dancing this May Day Bank Holiday, or even see yourself skipping round a maypole, you might like to check the weather forecast first.
Following what has been a bit of a washout in Somerset over the weekend, the good news is the Met Office is slightly more optimistic about this week, if you're hoping to get out and about.
Although rain hasn’t been ruled out entirely, the forecast is for perhaps more spring-like weather than we’ve experienced of late.

Met Office Bank Holiday weather in Somerset
The Met office is predicting a drier start to the week compared to yesterday and it should feel noticeably warmer too with maximum temperatures of 16 °C.
It will remain mostly cloudy though with the possibility of the odd shower - dry for most though.
A similarly overcast picture for the rest of the week, with a little rain on Tuesday increasing to more persistent rain on Wednesday with the risk of thunder.
Looking further ahead to Thursday it should be drying up again, feeling brighter and warmer.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist David Oliver said: “It is a different mix of weather this bank holiday weekend after what has been a largely settled week for the UK.
“A good deal of dry weather is expected on Monday with most areas only seeing some isolated showers and mild temperatures, widely in the mid-teens.”
