LONG-STANDING MasterChef critic and leading food writer William Sitwell has recently moved to Somerset and launched a series of supper clubs.

In April, guests flocked to his farm near Wiveliscombe to enjoy a feast by The Gladwin Brothers, who are behind London’s The Shed, Rabbit and Nutbourne.

The dinner began with a selection of canapes, from mushroom and marmite eclairs to Gladwin Cotechino. And to start, guests enjoyed torched marcel, English miso, compressed cucumber and borage.

The main course consisted of Roasted beef flank, horseradish caramel, rainbow carrot salsa (as featured in The Really Quite Good British Cookbook) served with bone marrow, wild garlic and St George's mushrooms.

And for dessert, the brothers served a goats cheese mousse with apricots and hazelnut praline.

One attendee said: “The supper club was wonderful. The long table made everyone feel very welcome and it was so interesting to learn all about the food we were eating. Everything was delicious – but the potatoes were incredible. I would love to go back again.”
