A NURSING and residential home in Wellington has won a top quality award for the fourth consecutive time.

Staff and residents at Chelston Park, on the West Buckland Road, are celebrating scooping the Gold Standards Framework Award yet again.

The accolade is testament to the home's high standards that enables its elderly residents to enjoy outstanding care.

The Gold Standard Framework's mission statement is to “deliver training and support that brings about individual and organisational transformation, enabling a ‘gold standard' of care for all people nearing the end of life".

A spokesperson for Chelston Park said: "We work closely with residents, their relatives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure we provide the highest possible care for all our residents and their families.

"The Gold Standard Framework assessor was especially interested in how our activities are coordinated in consultation with our physiotherapist.

"Working in this way, our activities team engage and motivate people by focusing on what is important to them and their families—and we help optimise a resident’s ability to enjoy life."

In addition to the latest award, Chelston Park has also been nominated as a Gold Standard Framework care home of the year.

The spokesperson said the result will be announced in September, but added: "It is gratifying just to be in contention."

They added: "Coming out of the pandemic and where nursing homes continue to be busy with extra infection control measures, it is a testament to all our staff that we have maintained this level of care and support."

Chelston Park features 31 rooms, comprising of 22 single rooms and nine double rooms suitable for couples.

There are two lounges and a dining room and two lifts service the house.

It offers personalised nursing care and support with staff trained and supported to help each resident with choices about living in a way that helps them get the best from each day.

The activities team play a key role, working alongside care assistants and nurses helping people to keep engaged, active and participating.

Residents are welcomed for both long and short stays, for holiday, convalescence and respite care, subject to room availability.

Chelston Park is part of a small group of care services which includes Netherclay House, in Bishop's Hull; Chelston Gardens, also in Wellington; and Netherclay Home Care.
