SOMERSET West and Taunton's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures are due to start this week: • M5, from 8pm May 9 to 6am May 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 23 - 24 lane closures for surveys.

• M5, from 8pm May 11 to 6am May 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 24 - 25 lane closures for gantry works.

• M5, from 10pm May 13 to 6am May 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 24 - 25 lane closures for gantry works.

• M5, from 8pm May 16 to 6am May 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 24 - 25 lane closures for gantry works.

• M5, from 9pm May 17 to 6am May 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 25 lane closures for gantry works.

• M5, from 8pm May 18 to 6am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 25 - 24 carriageway closure for gantry works, diversion via A38.

• M5, from 8pm May 23 to 4am June 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 31 - 20 mobile lane closures for maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
