MARK Braund has been unveiled as the new headteacher at North Town Primary School and Nursery.

He took up the post at North Town, which is part of the Richard Huish Trust, following the retirement of Mike Snowden in April.

Mr Braund was previously head for five years at St George's Catholic School in the town and before that held a similar post at North Curry CofE Primary School for three and a half years, leading the schools through two successful inspections with pupils achieving good or better outcomes.

He is said to bring "a high level of educational understanding, strong leadership skills, and ambition" to his new role.

Speaking of his appointment, Mr Braund said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as the new headteacher at North Town Primary School.

"I am looking forward to working with the whole school community and aim to build on the successes from Mike Snowden's time as headteacher.

"By working closely with the staff team, children, parents and governors, I will ensure we provide an excellent educational experience.

"I am really looking forward to the weeks and months ahead and want to get to know the whole school community as quickly as possible."

North Town Primary School is part of the Richard Huish Trust alongside Richard Huish College, The Taunton Academy, Lyngford Park Primary, North Curry C of E Primary, Nerrols Primary and West Buckland Primary School.

The Richard Huish Trust has a clear vision to provide exceptional education and training through the delivery of a holistic and vocational curriculum.

Closely linked to Richard Huish College, the organisation is uniquely placed to enable young people’s progression throughout their school career and beyond into further or higher education, training and employment.
