A SUSPECTED burglar was caught in the act by police at a former school building.

Members of the public reported a break in at the former King Ina School premises in School Lane, Somerton, yesterday (Tuesday, May 17).

Officers rushed to the scene, where they detained a suspect.

A quantity of controlled drugs found at the scene were seized.

A South South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing team spokesperson said: "Officers from The Somerton Neighbourhood Policing Team responded to reports of a break in at the old King Ina school building on School Lane.

"One person was detained and controlled drugs were found on scene.

"We would like to thank the vigilant members of the community that made the report and assisted police in their attendance."
