PEOPLE of Taunton may be wondering what the scaffolding work being done in the Independent Quarter is for.
First of all, we can confirm all the businesses within the area affected by the scaffolding are all still open for business as per usual.
The Courtyard within the Independent Quarter is having new signage done for the front of the building in order to match the swinging sign which was completed last year.
All of the signage work will be done by local sign writers Jacks & Stripes who are a local business based in Taunton.
A spokesperson from the Independent Quarter said: "They have done a huge amount of work in Taunton Independent Quarter including the signage around the planters in St James Street as well as signs for Rocket and Bird, The Ring of Bells, The Wig & Hair Clinic, Studio 8, Eden May and more."
Jacks and Stripes are a husband and wife team who work together, Gordie does the woodwork and Mandi does the side writing and lettering by hand.
"The signage work is paid for by the businesses within The Courtyard."
The new signage for St James Courtyard will be done in line with The Courtyard celebrating it’s 40 year anniversary since opening on May 29th 1982.
On Saturday May 28 The Courtyard and in particular Combers hairdressers, who are celebrating 40 years since opening will be hosting live music from a local jazz band.
Combers will have goody bags, cake, plenty of fizz and free haircut giveaways.
