IN and around Taunton there are several top places to go for a walk and enjoy some stunning scenery.

Ahead of some warmer weather we thought it would be a good idea to ask you what you think the best spot in the Taunton area for a dog walk is.

If only we could have asked some dogs directly.

Several readers suggested their favourite places to bring their furry friend for a walk and both town centre walks and countryside walks were suggested.

In Taunton, Long Run Meadow, Vivary Park and French Weir Park were suggested as an ideal spot to take your dog.

All these parks offer large open spaces not too far from the middle of Taunton and they seem a popular choice for dog walkers.

As well as that, all three are in relative proximity to the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal which was also suggested as a nice walk.

Tracey Boon said she would recommend a walk “along the canal between Creech and Maunsel”.

Another spot just outside of Taunton that was heavily recommended was the Quantock Hills.

The stunning scenery on offer here is something that our readers suggest is great for dog walking.

Chloe Dooley said: “My girl loves it. Triscombe stone also has a lovely lot of walking routes.”

Kirsty Wyatt added to the conversation by thanking Chloe for the suggestion: “Amazing thank you, always looking for new places for my 2 to run free.”

And the Quantock Hills is an ideal space to let your dogs run free with the large open spaces.

Darren Scott-Dowsett wanted to keep his special walking spot to himself though, he said: “Anywhere from everyone else so not saying.”
