POLICE are reviewing CCTV images after a woman was knocked over after being hit by an e-scooter earlier this week.

Officers are trying to trace the scooter rider, who failed to stop after the incident in Park Street, Taunton.

The County Gazette website revealed exclusively how the woman, who is in her 50s, was left in a pool of blood.

The victim, named as Emma, was on her way to work at County Hall when she was hit by one of two scooter riders outside St John the Evangelist Church just after 9am on Tuesday (May 17).

She suffered leg and facial injuries and was treated at Musgrove Park Hospital before being allowed home.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said her injuries were "not believed to be serious".

They added: "The rider, who failed to stop at the scene, is described as a white man, in his late teens or early twenties.

"No other description is available at the moment.

"We’re reviewing CCTV as part of this investigation but would like to speak to any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage.

"We’d also appeal directly to the e-scooter rider to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

We reported how Good Samaritan Eddie Impey pulled over to assist the victim after he saw her lying on the pavement covered in blood as he drove past.

He cradled her in her arms as she passed out and called for an ambulance.

Mr Impey said: ""She was bruised, had her face smashed in from the impact with the pavement, along with cuts to her legs, seriously damaged knees and concussion.

"I was trying to support her as I rang 999, but she passed out in my arms while I was speaking on the phone."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09:09hrs on Tuesday 17 May to an incident in Taunton. We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and conveyed one patient to Musgrove Park Hospital."
