TWO Ukrainian women have set up a cleaning business less than a month after their arrival in the UK.

Sofija, 25, and Krystyna, 29, both nurses, arrived in the UK on April 27 helped by their sponsor from Bishops Lydeard, Alexandra Farrant.

Alexandra has praised thier attitude and said Sofija and Krystyna wanted to "work straight-away”.

They both worked as nurses in Ukraine but since their English may not be good enough for nursing yet, as Alexandra explained, they quickly found an alternative by setting up their own business, SK Cleaning.

She said: “They started pretty much straight-away. They arrived here on April 27 and they had the opportunity to rest but they wanted to work straight-away.

“They did such a good job when they offered to work for some friends and family that they asked them ‘why don’t you do it properly’? And now it’s going really well.

“They just got a really positive attitude, it’s a difficult time for them but they want to make the most out of this opportunity and make it a positive experience."

Sofija and Krystyna left their family in Ukraine and they and are also working to support them during the war.

Alexandra alos said: “They are just focusing on working and build something for their family.”

“All of their family are back in Lviv and they haven’t seen them in a couple of months. It’s a really hard situation and maybe they won’t be able to for some time.

“They want to work for themselves and support their families too.

“We were strangers meeting at Bristol Airport. It is a big deal to put your trust in a stranger, but they did so with me and I am very grateful.

“They are just an incredible pair, they are kind and funny, positive and proactive. They just want to get on with it and work hard.

“They don’t want to rely on me for anything and they want to be independent. Now I have two extra members who are an absolute pleasure to have in my home.”
