THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a Wiveliscombe man.

Police were called to reports that a man had been assaulted in Stockers Close at around 8.45pm on Tuesday (May 17).

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "Police and ambulance crews attended and a man in his 50s was taken to hospital where, sadly, he later died.

"While identification is yet to be formally confirmed, next of kin are being supported by family liaison officers and our thoughts are with them."

The cause of death is due to be established by a post mortem examination.

In the meantime, police have arrested two men and a woman on suspicion of murder. They are currently in police custody.

The spokesperson added: "Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which could help their enquiries.

"We’d remind people that this is an active criminal investigation and ask them to avoid speculation on social media."

Anyone with any information that could assist the police enquiry is asked to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222117042, or complete the force's online appeals form.
