KING'S College, Taunton pupil Nyah T recently returned to school after representing England at the EU Nations (Junior Ladies) Water Polo Cup in Brno, Czech Republic.

The tournament involved England, Great Britain, Ireland, Lithuania, South Africa and hosts Czech Republic who played a series of round-robin matches to determine the winners of the tournament.

The 2021 competition was delayed due to covid and took place in October 2021 when England were placed fourth. This time South Africa were the winners, Czech Republic were second and England won the bronze medal after beating Ireland 1-24 (0-8, 0-6, 1-4, 0-6).

Nyah, who is currently in the Lower Sixth Form at King's, started playing water polo when she was 11 years old. In addition to playing at school, she Is also a member of Taunton Water Polo Club and playing national league for Exeter.

Regarding the England team performance, head coach Simon Tomlinson said: “This group of girls are looking to continue to develop as a team following their first tournament back in October last year. They are hoping to really improve the team unity in and out of the water and start to step up against some tough opposition.”

King's Director of Sport, Phil Lewis said: "Nyah has done incredibly well to gain a medal in this competition, and she continues to show a huge amount of progress with her water polo.

“She is supported at school with an individual timetable that supports her training, as well as continuing to work on our high-performance programme where she receives strength and conditioning support to run alongside her sport specific programme."
