ART Bank will celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with an interactive one-day event of theatrical performances in Shepton Mallet.

Sheptopoly will take place on Saturday, June 4, and this year there will be a ‘7 Queens for 7 Decades’ theme. In addition, the group will also launch its new, year-long project, ‘Community Spirit,’ funded by the National Lottery Platinum Jubilee Fund.

Sheptopoly uses the town like a 3D boardgame. Teams of friends and families will have the opportunity to meet Queens from history and imagination at various locations in the town centre, complete various tasks in order to win tokens and progress to the next location.

There will be a cash prize for the team that records the most creative Sheptopoly journey through photos and/or videos.

Teams need to register (it is free to take part) at www.artbank.org.uk then turn up at the Art Bank at 1pm on the day of the event, Saturday, June 4, to collect maps.

Gameplay is from 1 till 3.30, with the finale at the Market Cross at 3, where Shepton’s Tall Tails Theatre will host a Victorian-style music hall extravaganza.

At the close of play, the Dr Love Vinyl Revival will commence his ‘Jubilee Jukebox’ in the Art Bank itself, playing 70 years of British hits into the night.

Some of the Queens players will meet on the way include the legendary Boudica; Queen Mab, Chief Controller of the Fairies; Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts, and an on-the-move mermaid queen. The game includes elements such as treasure hunting, dress-up, riddle-solving, and games of skill.
