PUPILS from St Dubricius Church of England First School have helped transform the Porlock office of Greenslade Taylor Hunt to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The village is hosting a series of celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the monarch’s reign and the whole place is decked out in red, white and blue.
The window display at Greenslade Taylor Hunt has switched from properties to a delightful corgi-montage in homage to the Queen’s favoured four-legged friends.
Lorraine David-Jenkins, residential valuer at Greenslade Taylor Hunt, asked pupils at the first school to make Union Flag paper chains, which are now festooning the Porlock office.
“I thought it was a great way of involving the children. The whole village has come together to ensure a jubilee celebration to remember,” said Lorraine.
Festivities get underway at 1.30pm on Thursday (June 1), at Dovery Manor for a 1.45pm royal procession to the front of St Dubricius Church, where Porlock Town Crier Grant Dennis will deliver the traditional royal proclamation to mark the jubilee.
It will be followed by a 'bring your own' picnic in the recreation ground with a string of family-friendly events.
At 8.30pm, Friends in Harmony will lead community singing and at 9.30pm the Town Crier will deliver another royal proclamation before the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm.
More Jubilee events are planned throughout the weekend.
