A MAN has died following a collision between two vehicles on the M5 in Devon yesterday after being airlifted to hospital, police have confirmed.
Officers were called at around 11:50am on Sunday, June 12 following reports of a collision on the southbound carriageway between junction 27 (Tiverton) and junction 28 (Cullompton) in Devon.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “The collision was between two vehicles. The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were unharmed.
“The driver second vehicle was airlifted to hospital. He has since died, and efforts continue to locate and inform next of kin.
“Police attended and an investigation into this collision is taking place.
“The road was closed for several hours, and we would like to thank the public for their patience and support shown during this time.”

The motorway's southbound lane was closed for several hours, affecting traffic heading into Devon from Somerset.
At around 2:40pm yesterday, National Highways reported four miles of congestion on approach to the closure, causing delays of around 40 minutes.
