TWO Somerset men have admitted killing a man in Wiveliscombe last month.

But the pair, from Weston-super-Mare, have denied murdering Jason Lock, who died following an incident at his home in Stockers Close.

Daniel Bond, 34, and Lee Conlon, 37, both of Claremont Crescent, pleaded guilty to manslaughter when they appeared at Bristol Crown Court via videolink earlier today (Thursday, June 16).

Mr Lock, 56, died in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, after failing to regain consciousness in the early hours of Thursday, May 19, two days after the incident in Wiveliscombe.

Christopher Smyth, prosecuting, asked the court for 28 days to consider whether the pleas are acceptable to the Crown.

The judge, Mr Justice Neil Garnham, adjourned the case to a date to be fixed.

Bond and Conlon were remanded in custody.

Mr Lock grew up in Wiveliscombe, where he attended the primary school and Kingsmead School, and later worked for EPS Services and Tooling.

He was engaged to his long-term partner Mandy Lockyer.

Speaking exclusively to the County Gazette after his death, she said: "We are all heartbroken by this loss, in such tragic circumstances as well.

“Jason was kind, hard-working and would do anything for anybody.

"He was my best friend and lover and I am lost without him.”

She added: "Jason was a fantastic person.

"He was loving and caring.

"I don't know how I'm going to go on without him.

"I just miss him so much.

"To be taken away in such tragic circumstances, it's just not fair. He didn't deserve this."
