A NEW arts trail will launch in Porlock Vale later this month to highlight the work of local artists to residents and tourists.

The Porlock Vale Arts Trail 2022 will be a permanant route that takes in a variety of different works from across the Vale villages.

A total of 18 different artisans will feature on the trail, including potters, weavers, silversmiths, glassmakers, jewellers, photographers, and painters.

The trail, which has been set up by Porlock Visitor Centre, will launch on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26.

There will be 16 additional pop-up venues between 10am and 4pm on both days with amateur and professional artists displaying their work.

A spokesperson for Porlock Visitor Centre said: “The event starts with a town cry at 10am at St Dubricius Church, where you can find artists exhibiting their work along with candle making opportunities and a painting demonstration by Terry Gable.

“There are further exhibits, workshops and demonstrations throughout Porlock Vale villages including a fun children’s creative workshop in Porlock Library on Saturday, June 25 including weaving, spinning, lino-cut card making, jewellery making, felting, handmade glass, ceramics, photographers and a great opportunity for children to take part in their own mini theatrical productions in Porlock.

“In Wootton Courtenay, there is an exhibition of 10 artists in the village hall as well as further exhibits in the village by innovative photographers, painters, and jewellers.

“Full details of all exhibitors and art trail booklets are available at Porlock Visitor Centre and are also distributed throughout Porlock Vale shops, campsites, pubs, cafés as well as Minehead, Watchet, Dunster, Dulverton, Taunton and Lynmouth information centres.”

The first Porlock Art Trail event took place in July last year and was a “huge success”.
