A POPULAR music promotion group is hosting an event in Taunton - for the first time in 15 years.

Weekender Promotions has staged more than 400 shows at a variety of venues in the town, and hosted many of these events between 1998 and 2007.

They attracted many national acts, as well as local bands and DJs.

The Weekender nights events were staged under different brands, including Sounds Of the Underground, Revolver, Hijacker and My Favourite Noise.

The Weekender nights took place on Thursdays at Cafe Mamba, Chambers, Sloanes, the Princess Royal pub and the former Priory Social Club.

Most notably, Kasabian played at Cafe Mamba in January 2004. And other national acts have included The Feeling, Sunshine Underground, The Others, The Bandits, Chikinki, Aspects, Clearlake and The Hoosiers.

As well as this, the company also produced the Weekender magazine.

And now they are headed back to Taunton with a Weekender nights reunion on Saturday, July 16.

The reunion night will include sets from former Weekender DJs, Matt Franklin, Rob Butler, Andy Sharman, Edge, Steve Escott and James Parsons, (better known as EP), Duncan Elliott and Matt Chorley, and will include visuals, photographs, and posters from the time.

The event will be at the Lawns Social Club in Taunton from 7pm.

Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds will go to charity.
